She's got her own grain πŸ˜‚

Hey Reader!

I’ve only had my goats for about two months, but one of them has already taught me something about human nature. πŸ˜‚

Every evening, I pour their grain into a gutter that we use for feeding. Everybody gets their portion.

But I have one little gal, Lydia, who is convinced that what the other goats have must be better than what’s right in front of her.
The only one she shares with is her baby, Claudia.

She’ll leave her own grain and head butt three of the others to get to theirs. I have to physically stand between them so everybody can eat!

She’s a sweet girl, and we’re working on it.

But watching her made me think about how often we do the very same thing.

We see our friends buying boats, campers, vacation homes, newer vehicles and all sorts of things.

And before long, we're wondering if we should have those things too.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with any of them.

But I can't imagine spending my weekends in a camper. 😊 I'd rather be home on our little farm, taking care of my animals.

Now, don't think I don't have things I want.

My 4Runner is 13 years old and recently rolled over 135,000 miles. She's a perfectly good vehicle, but I've had my eye on a new SUV.

I keep telling myself I need one.

But there's something else I'd really like to have first.

A GARAGE!

We bought our farm two years ago. The house has been completely refurbished, we have barns, storage buildings, and even the cats have their own building. πŸ˜‚

But no garage!

So until we decide whether we're going to build a home here, I'll keep driving my 4Runner.

Her name is TANK, by the way, and I still love her!

Just because I can buy something doesn't mean it's what I want to spend my money on right now.

That's what I want you to think about this weekend.

Are the things you're spending your money on helping you build the life YOU want?

Or have you gotten distracted by what everybody else is doing?

I've worked hard to structure our finances around the life Tim and I want.

I don't need to borrow somebody else's dream.

And neither do you.

I'm going to stay over here in my own stall, eating my grain (also cleaning the barn, LOL!) and enjoying what we've built. πŸ˜‚

Happy Weekend!

Helping you find calm, confidence, and margin with your money

P.S. What's one thing you've decided to wait on because something else matters more to you? I'd love to hear it.
